🌸Classroom Flower Gardens🌸
Happy Tuesday Academy of Westhaven Families! I hope you all have had a great week and have gotten to enjoy this amazing weather. The littles are loving all the fun activities outside, and getting to see all of the flowers bloom.
This week we are doing all things SPRING! Yesterday we enjoyed Paper Plate Caterpillars, and then today we had so much fun planting our very own Classroom Flower Gardens! The littles got to learn all about the life cycle of flowers, what helps a flower to grow, and how flowers help our environment! Each classroom received all the materials they needed for their gardens, soil, flower pots and then they got to choose what seeds they wanted to plant in their classrooms. The littles all loved helping and getting messy in the soil! They all did such a wonderful job and we are all so excited to see all of the bright flowers grow throughout our school!
Why is it so important to let your little help out in the garden? Gardening with children provides them with skills to help your Little’s development. You and your children will enjoy every stage of the process, and the reward of seeing their flowers grow!
This is also great for their growing body management skills and control skills as they move from one place to the other carrying tools, soil and water. Your little will love the sensory stimulation that they can experience in a garden. Water is a critical part of gardening and, if your child enjoys nothing else, playing with the hose or the watering can be a highlight. Feeling the texture of the soil or the plant leaves is also interesting for their growing development. Most of all, it will create long lasting memories for you and your family!
What are some of your favorite memories of gardening with your family?
