“You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child.”
πŸ“šRead across America week! πŸ“š
Happy “Read across America week” Academy of Westhaven Families! We have been looking forward to this week for a while now and have so many fun activities planned for the littles..and teachers too!

This week we made sure it was extra special by hosting our Scholastic Book Fair, which the littles LOVE! We started out our week with fun One fish, Two fish snacks,  today was Bring in your favorite Dr. Seuss Book, we cannot wait to finish out this fun filled week with Dress up like your favorite Dr. Seuss Character!
Other than being filled with fun snacks and silly dress up days, Read Across America week is so much more.. Reading in general is fundamental in improving creativity. National Read Across America Day was established in 1998. The day coincides with the birthday of children's book author Dr. Seuss. The simple, yet important, purpose of the event is to celebrate reading and, to get children interested in it. You can celebrate the day by revisiting your favorite book, and sharing it with your little for the first time!

What is your favorite book that you remember reading as a child?

Check out some of our future readers below!
