What an incredible week we had celebrating We Are America Week at The Academy of Westhaven! Our classrooms were filled with excitement as our students explored patriotic traditions through hands-on activities, movement, creativity, and plenty of fun.
We kicked off the festivities with a Stars and Stripes Relay, where our little learners worked together, practiced teamwork, and cheered one another on as they raced through a patriotic-themed obstacle course. It was a wonderful way to build gross motor skills while celebrating the red, white, and blue!
One of the week's biggest highlights was our Patriotic Parade! The children proudly decorated their bikes and ride-on toys with festive patriotic decorations before riding up and down our driveway while teachers and friends cheered them on. Seeing their smiling faces and creative decorations made for a memorable celebration that everyone enjoyed.
Our sensory explorers also had a blast creating Firecracker Goop! This exciting sensory activity allowed the children to squish, stretch, mix, and explore different textures while discovering how colors blended together. Sensory play encourages curiosity, creativity, and early scientific thinking, making this activity both fun and educational.
To wrap up our amazing week, the children enjoyed a variety of festive indoor activities celebrating Independence Day. Before heading home for the holiday, each child received a special "Light Up the Night" take-home activity to continue the celebration with their families and add a little extra sparkle to their Fourth of July festivities.
At The Academy of Westhaven, we love creating meaningful experiences that help children learn through play while making lasting memories with their friends. Thank you to all of our families for helping make We Are America Week such a wonderful celebration!
We hope everyone had a safe, happy, and memorable Fourth of July! ❤️🤍💙
