Recently, our preschoolers embarked on an underwater adventure filled with exciting activities and learning experiences. Here’s a look at all the fun we had…

We kicked off the week by diving into the fascinating world of ocean habitats. The children learned about different sea creatures, their homes, and how they interact with their environment. We explored colorful coral reefs, mysterious deep-sea trenches, and bustling tide pools. Our little explorers were thrilled to discover the wonders of the ocean! We set up fun habitats that they were able to explore hands on as well, with ocean animals and miniature coral reefs. 

We were honored to welcome a special guest, an Aquatic Veterinarian, who shared insights about caring for marine animals. The children were captivated by stories of dolphin rescues and sea turtle rehabilitation. They asked questions and even got to see some cool tools and dehydrated animals that you would find in the ocean. 

Our littles got hands-on with the Pufferfish Pop activity! Using a balloon, baking soda, and vinegar, they learned about how pufferfish inflate themselves for protection. The children were amazed to see their own pufferfish models "puff up" and enjoyed the interactive, educational experiment.

Creativity soared as we designed our own coral reefs using dyed pasta noodles. The children crafted vibrant, intricate reefs, learning about the importance of these underwater ecosystems and how they support marine life. It was a fantastic blend of art and science.

We also engaged in a variety of sensory activities throughout the week. The children loved playing with sensory pop-it toys, which they got to take home as a special memento. These toys helped enhance their fine motor skills and provided a soothing sensory experience.

To wrap up our Under the Sea week, we enjoyed a fun and delicious Shark Attack snack. The children assembled their own snacks, which looked like little sharks swimming in the ocean. It was a tasty and creative way to end our aquatic adventure.

Happy Tuesday Academy of Westhaven families. We recently celebrated "We Are America" week, filled with fun, creativity, and patriotism! Here's a glimpse into our exciting week..

Our week kicked off with the Stars and Stripes Relay, where the kids had a blast racing with red, white, and blue flags. Having Sack Races, and building Freedom Towers. It was a fantastic way to get everyone active and excited about the celebrations ahead. One of the highlights was our Star-Spangled Snack time. The children enjoyed delicious red, white, and blue popsicles, perfect for the summer weather. It was a refreshing and festive treat that everyone loved. The Patriotic Parade was a spectacular event. Each child decorated their bikes and scooters with red, white, and blue garland, balloons, and glitter pom-poms. The parade was a vibrant display of creativity and national pride, with everyone cheering and waving flags.

We ended the week with a bang—literally! The kids had a wonderful time making and playing with firecracker goop, also known as oobleck. It was a messy, fun, and engaging activity that allowed the children to explore different textures.

This past week at preschool was a wild adventure as we celebrated our Animal Planet theme! Our little explorers had a blast learning about different animals through engaging activities and fun events. Here’s a recap of our amazing week:

Our week kicked off with an unforgettable Animal Round Up! The teachers dressed up in inflatable animal costumes and raced each other in a hilarious and thrilling event. The preschoolers cheered loudly, waving posters they had created earlier in the day. The joy and laughter filled the air as the teachers stumbled and sprinted to the finish line, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

We were excited to have a special guest visit our preschool! Animal Tales brought along some fascinating animals for us to meet. The littles loved the up-close encounters with these amazing creatures and learned interesting facts about their habits and habitats. It was an educational and exciting experience that sparked curiosity and wonder in every child.

Snack time took on a fun twist with our Crocodile Teeth treat! The children giggled with delight as they enjoyed this creative and delicious snack. Made with yummy Bugles, It was a perfect way to keep the animal theme going during snack time.

One of the highlights of our Animal Planet week was adopting a wild animal! Each little got to “Adopt a Wild Animal”. We had stuffed Tigers, Bears, Elephants, and Zebras that they were all able to choose from. They were all able to then fill out and Adoption Certificate and pick out a name for their new family member. It was such a fun activity and they were all so excited to take their very own Wild Animal home!

This past week, AOW went on an exciting camping adventure that our little campers will remember for years to come! Each day was filled with unique activities designed to spark joy, creativity, and a sense of camaraderie. We had Special Guest, got messy, and most importantly, made so many memories! Here’s a day-by-day recap of our unforgettable camping week:

Poolside Movie Monday

We kicked off our week with a splash on Poolside Movie Monday! Our campers floated on inflatable pool floats, basking in the sun and enjoying the cool water. As we gathered around the pool to watch "Moana." The kids were mesmerized by the adventurous tale of Moana and her journey. It was a perfect way to start our week, combining relaxation with a touch of magic.

Tie Dye Tuesday

Tuesday was a burst of color with Tie Dye Tuesday! Each child received a white t-shirt to transform into a vibrant masterpiece. With an array of dye colors and endless design possibilities, our little artists let their imaginations run wild. The joy and excitement on their faces as they saw their creations come to life was priceless. By the end of the day, our campsite was a rainbow all of their hard work!

Camp Wars Wednesday

Wednesday brought out the competitive spirit in everyone with Camp Wars! Our campers participated in a variety of relay races and fun challenges. The day was packed with laughter and high energy. The children worked together, cheered each other on, and celebrated every victory, big or small. Camp Wars brought out the competitive side of our campers, but also showed them the importance of having fun and trying their best.

Tasty Thursday

No camping experience is complete without delicious treats, and Tasty Thursday was all about satisfying our sweet tooth. We gathered around the campfire (safely simulated, of course) to make s’mores. The kids loved roasting marshmallows and assembling their gooey, chocolatey snacks. It was a delightful day filled with sticky fingers and happy faces. The joy of sharing food and stories around the "campfire" brought everyone closer together.

Water Wars Friday!

We ended our week with a splash during Water Wars Friday! Armed with water balloons and squirt guns, our campers and teachers engaged in an epic water battle. Laughter and squeals of delight filled the air as everyone got thoroughly soaked. It was the perfect way to cool down and wrap up our camping week with a fun and refreshing activity! 

As our campers prepared to head home, we had one final surprise for them: flashlights! These were given as reminders of their camping adventure, so they will always remember there is no camp like Camp Academy!

Our preschool camping week was a tremendous success, thanks to the enthusiasm and participation of our wonderful campers and teachers. Each day was filled with joy, learning, and unforgettable memories. We’re already looking forward to next year’s camping week and the new adventures it will bring!

🥾💚Kindergarten Boot Camp Kick Off!💚🥾

We are excited to introduce our Kindergarten Boot Camp Program to our Class of 2024 Cadets. KBC is designed specifically for our rising kindergartners! This program is a fun and educational experience to help prepare our young learners for the exciting journey ahead in kindergarten.

We kicked off our boot camp with a memorable Signing Day! Each of our cadets proudly signed up for the program, marking the beginning of their adventure into the world of kindergarten. It was a wonderful moment filled with excitement!

Every cadet received a special drawstring bag filled with all the materials they will need during their time in boot camp. Inside, they found pencils, erasers, and folders that they will bring home each day. These tools will help them with their daily activities and ensure they are always prepared and organized.

Our Kindergarten Boot Camp focuses on preparing children for kindergarten by teaching them essential sight words. Learning these words will give them a strong foundation for reading and writing, making the transition to kindergarten smoother and more enjoyable.

We have planned visits from some very special guests, including kindergarten teachers who will share tips and stories, Academy Alumni who will talk about their own experiences, and even a visit from a school bus! This hands-on experience will help our cadets become familiar with riding the bus and feeling comfortable in their new environment.

Our Kindergarten Boot Camp is more than just a preparation program; it is an adventure that combines learning with fun. We are thrilled to watch our cadets grow and gain confidence as they get ready for kindergarten. Here's to an exciting and successful boot camp journey!

Happy Tuesday Academy of Westhaven Families! We are living our best lives over here at AOW. We have been busy with alllll the summer fun! From flower sensory bins, to fun butterfly snacks and Teacher Appreciation! 

Our favorite recent activity was one close to our heart, The St. Jude Trike a Thon! Our school familiy all came together to raise over $1090 to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! Our littles signed up made their donations and came ready to ride. They were all so excited and it turned out to be such a fun event. St. Jude gave us call and let us know that we helped pay for 3 X-Rays and a day of Oxygen for children fighting cancer. ❤️
