Recently, our preschoolers embarked on an underwater adventure filled with exciting activities and learning experiences. Here’s a look at all the fun we had…
We kicked off the week by diving into the fascinating world of ocean habitats. The children learned about different sea creatures, their homes, and how they interact with their environment. We explored colorful coral reefs, mysterious deep-sea trenches, and bustling tide pools. Our little explorers were thrilled to discover the wonders of the ocean! We set up fun habitats that they were able to explore hands on as well, with ocean animals and miniature coral reefs.
We were honored to welcome a special guest, an Aquatic Veterinarian, who shared insights about caring for marine animals. The children were captivated by stories of dolphin rescues and sea turtle rehabilitation. They asked questions and even got to see some cool tools and dehydrated animals that you would find in the ocean.
Our littles got hands-on with the Pufferfish Pop activity! Using a balloon, baking soda, and vinegar, they learned about how pufferfish inflate themselves for protection. The children were amazed to see their own pufferfish models "puff up" and enjoyed the interactive, educational experiment.
Creativity soared as we designed our own coral reefs using dyed pasta noodles. The children crafted vibrant, intricate reefs, learning about the importance of these underwater ecosystems and how they support marine life. It was a fantastic blend of art and science.
We also engaged in a variety of sensory activities throughout the week. The children loved playing with sensory pop-it toys, which they got to take home as a special memento. These toys helped enhance their fine motor skills and provided a soothing sensory experience.
To wrap up our Under the Sea week, we enjoyed a fun and delicious Shark Attack snack. The children assembled their own snacks, which looked like little sharks swimming in the ocean. It was a tasty and creative way to end our aquatic adventure.
